Emirates has formalized a new partnership with GE Aerospace to enhance its engine repair capabilities within Dubai. This collaboration specifically targets the improvement of piece part component repair services for the GE90 and GP7200 engines.
The agreement was sealed at the Emirates Group Headquarters, with Adel Al Redha, the Deputy President and Chief Operating Officer of Emirates, and Mohamed Ali, the President and CEO of Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace, in attendance.
This venture is set to bolster the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC), which represents a significant US$300 million investment aimed at enhancing the airline's maintenance, repair, and overhaul capacities for aircraft engines.
As part of this accord, GE Aerospace will offer technical consultancy along with specialized training for Emirates Engineering teams. The collaboration will establish a dedicated line for component repair and facilitate the transfer of technical knowledge to enhance EEMC's operational expertise.
Adel Al Redha remarked that this agreement signifies a pivotal advancement in Emirates’ engine repair capabilities while fostering high-quality maintenance services in Dubai. He noted that the partnership will also equip employees with the essential skills needed for GE90 and GP7200 engine repairs, vital for Emirates’ Boeing 777 and part of its Airbus A380 fleet.
Furthermore, the growth of the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre is expected to solidify Emirates Engineering's status as a premier hub for aircraft engine repairs, thereby enhancing service efficiency across the airline's expanding fleet.
Mohamed Ali acknowledged the significance of Emirates as a crucial and long-standing partner for GE Aerospace, stating that this agreement embodies GE Aerospace’s commitment to assisting airline patrons throughout the entire operational lifecycle of their engines while contributing to the UAE aviation sector's continuous development.
Currently, Emirates Engineering supports engineering, line maintenance, and base maintenance for over 270 aircraft, including Boeing 777, Airbus A380, and Airbus A350, from its advanced Dubai facilities.
Established in 2014, the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre remains a vital provider of repair and maintenance services for the engines utilized in the Emirates fleet.
