On Monday, a small explosion happened at a building used by the Self-Defense Forces inside the U.S. military's Kadena air base in Okinawa Prefecture. The explosion took place around 11:15 a.m. at a storage area where unexploded shells were kept, in the village of Yomitan.
Four members of the Ground Self-Defense Forces were hurt in the blast. However, none of them were seriously injured, and all are expected to recover. Officials from the Defense Ministry said the injuries were not life-threatening.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene after receiving the call about the explosion. The cause of the blast is still being investigated. The Kadena air base is a large U.S. military facility, and the Self-Defense Forces have some facilities inside it.
This incident has raised concerns about safety because unexploded shells can be very dangerous. Authorities are working to make sure everything is safe and to find out how the explosion happened.
