H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and Abu Dhabi Sports Council, emphasized the pivotal role of the Fatima bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Award as a premier Arab platform. He stated that it honors outstanding female athletes while inspiring a pursuit of excellence, fostering the continuous growth of women's sports.
He further elaborated that this initiative aligns with the UAE's mission to empower women and create conducive environments for their success across all sectors. Sheikh Nahyan reiterated that the award signifies the nation’s unwavering commitment to encouraging female athletic participation locally and regionally.
He acknowledged the award's success is rooted in the relentless support and vision of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation.” As Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, her leadership has been instrumental in advancing women's sports within the UAE and the Arab community.
He also commended Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who chairs the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and is active with Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Ladies Clubs. Her advocacy has bolstered the award’s significance across the Arab world, serving as a noble platform that honors female talent across diverse sports.
At the ninth edition of the Fatima bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Award 2025, H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed celebrated the winners in a ceremony held at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi. He extended his congratulations, affirming that their rewards reflect their dedication and outstanding contributions to Arab sports. He expressed hopes for their continued achievements on both local and global stages.
Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United States and an International Olympic Committee member, was awarded the Sports Personality of the Year for 2025, recognizing her role in advancing sports diplomacy and women’s athletics across the Arab nations.
Fareeda Mohamed Ahmed Khalil, the youngest Arab champion, received the Best Arab Woman Athlete award, while Salma Haitham Rashid Al Marri was honored as the Best Emirati Woman Athlete. Thikra Ahmed Al Kaabi, a Paralympic track and field star from the UAE, was celebrated as the Best Paralympic Woman Athlete.
The Sharjah Women’s Athletics Team was recognized as the Best Women’s Team, having excelled in the relay race. Mariam Hassan Al Marzouqi earned the title of Best Sports Mother, and Saudi national Maha Yousif Al Khalifa was recognized as the Best Sports Media Influencer. Additionally, Emirati archer Mona Faisal Al Shara was named the Best Young Woman Athlete, and Tunisian judo coach Nihal Reda Mohammed won the Best Coach award.
