FIA Achieves Best Operating Profit in a Decade for FY2025

Post by : Badri Ariffin

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the leading global authority in motor sport and mobility organizations, has revealed its most impressive financial results in ten years.

In its financial report for FY2025, the FIA declared an operating profit of €6.7 million, a 43% rise from prior year figures. This marks a significant turnaround from the €24 million loss recorded in 2021.

The federation’s operating revenue surged to €191.7 million, a remarkable 75% increase since FY2021.

Financial Rebound Under FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem

The earnings for FY2025 highlight a continuous recovery that began with the federation’s return to financial health in FY2024, credited to the leadership of Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who has been FIA President since 2021.

According to the FIA, the enhanced financial outcomes stem from a robust commercial strategy, improved cost management, and superior financial governance across the organization.

Commitment to Long-Term Financial Health

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed his dedication to sustaining profitability and financial health. He stated: "In my second term, I am focused on ensuring the organization remains profitable. I am pleased to see our strongest performance in a decade, following the significant improvements made since 2021. A cornerstone of my governance pledge was to enhance transparency and financial stability, shaping the FIA into a more resilient organization. I will continue collaborating with stakeholders to foster growth and value across our motor sport and mobility communities."

Strong FIA Championships Bolster FY2025 Performance

The federation’s financial success was bolstered by impressive performances from its key championships and commercial initiatives.

Significant contributors included:

  • Establishing a new promoter process for the FIA World Rally Championship with beneficial commercial terms.

  • Outstanding results from the FIA World Endurance Championship.

  • Implementation of new sporting regulations.

The FIA indicated that its strengthened financial status will allow for ongoing support to its Member Clubs and investments in its championships.

Over €20 Million Reinvigorated Since 2022

Since 2022, the FIA has allocated over €20 million towards vital initiatives.

These include establishing a new Officials Department aimed at enhancing the training of race officials and supporting initiatives like Safe Mobility 4 All and 4 Life.

The federation has also continued modernizing its governance and communications structures.

FIA Expands Horizons with London Office

To further its transformation, the FIA inaugurated its inaugural London office in 2025.

This office will enhance the federation's global outreach, facilitating talent acquisition and extending its influence in international motor sport and mobility sectors.

FIA Concludes FY2025 Without Debt and with a Solid Balance Sheet

The FIA concluded FY2025 with a robust financial standing.

Cash equivalents accounted for 73% of the organization's balance sheet, reflecting a 6% year-on-year rise. The equity ratio stood at 49%, with the federation reporting no long-term financial obligations.

This stable financial position will continue to underpin investment in its championships, Member Clubs, and strategic priorities in both motor sport and mobility.
