Police in Hà Nội have started an investigation after photos of a high school exam were uploaded to an AI app while the test was still happening.
The photos were uploaded to an AI app called StudyX during the exam time from 2.30 pm to 4 pm. This has made many parents and students worried about how well the exam papers are kept safe.
In another case, a different student is said to have used an AI app called Gemini to search for answers during their exams in mathematics, history, and English.
The Internal Political Security Division of the Hà Nội Police has opened a case for inadvertent disclosure of State secrets under Article 33 of the Penal Code because of what happened on June 26.
The Ministry of Public Security told the Hà Nội Police to investigate quickly. Officers from different police units, including the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Unit, worked together to find out how the exam paper was leaked.
Their first findings showed that a student named N.V.K had secretly taken a mobile phone into the exam room. This student took a photo of part of the maths paper and uploaded it to StudyX to get answers. Reports say only two answers were copied before the exam ended.
The same student is also believed to have taken photos of questions from the chemistry and physics exams held on June 27 and uploaded them.
As police continued their investigation, they found another student, 18-year-old L.T.M.A., who used a mobile phone to take photos during exams in mathematics, history, and English. This student used the Gemini app to get answers in real-time.
This student was caught by the exam supervisors and was immediately disqualified from the exams.
The case is still under investigation, and the authorities have promised to punish everyone who breaks the law.
The Hà Nội Police have warned students and their families that using mobile phones to take photos and share exam questions during exam time is against the law. Sharing them with AI apps, on the internet, or with other people is also illegal.
Anyone who does this may face disqualification, cancellation of exam results, fines, or even criminal charges, depending on how serious the crime is and what effect it has caused.
