India Crushes West Indies By An Innings In Ahmedabad Test 2025

Post by : Rameen Ariff

India dominated the West Indies to win the opening Test in Ahmedabad by an innings and 140 runs, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The hosts set the tone early after dismissing West Indies for just 162 runs in their first innings at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

India then posted a commanding total of 448-5 before declaring, powered by brilliant centuries from opener KL Rahul, as well as impressive contributions from Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja. With a huge lead of 286 runs, India’s bowlers ensured that West Indies could not recover.

Ravindra Jadeja led the bowling attack superbly, claiming 4-54, while India’s fielders showcased exceptional catching. West Indies were bowled out for 146 in their second innings, handing India a comprehensive win in just three days. The second and final Test of the series will be played in New Delhi from October 10.

India’s bowling once again proved too strong for the West Indies’ top order. Nitish Kumar Reddy took a stunning catch at square leg to dismiss Tagnarine Chanderpaul off Mohammed Siraj. Jadeja struck twice in quick succession, removing John Campbell through a smart catch by Sai Sudharsan at short leg and sending back Brandon King in the slips, caught by KL Rahul.

Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav uprooted rival captain Roston Chase’s off-stump to reduce West Indies to 35-4. Jadeja picked up his third wicket when Yashasvi Jaiswal took a sharp catch at backward point to dismiss Shai Hope. Jayden Seales produced a lively 22-run cameo, but it was not enough to prevent a heavy defeat.

This win highlighted India’s strong all-round performance with the bat, ball, and in the field, giving them a commanding lead in the series and momentum heading into the final Test in New Delhi.
