Prime Minister Narendra Modi met South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France, where both leaders discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across economic, cultural and social sectors. The meeting reflected the growing partnership between the two Asian nations.
Following the talks, President Lee Jae-Myung stated that both countries had agreed to expand cooperation in all major areas and work towards building a stronger and more future-oriented relationship. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in economic growth, cultural exchange and people-to-people ties.
Prime Minister Modi recalled President Lee's recent visit to India and expressed confidence that the Special Strategic Partnership between the two countries would continue to grow. The leaders also discussed increasing cooperation in advanced technologies, innovation and emerging industries.
The meeting comes shortly after both nations adopted the Joint Strategic Vision 2026-2030, aimed at strengthening bilateral engagement over the next five years. The roadmap focuses on expanding trade, investment, technology partnerships and strategic cooperation.
During the G7 Outreach Session, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving global conflicts. He noted that international cooperation remains essential for addressing common global challenges and maintaining peace and stability.
The Prime Minister also highlighted concerns regarding disruptions in global trade routes, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure maritime security and protect international trade flows that support the global economy.
India participated in the G7 Summit as a partner nation, marking its 13th appearance in the outreach process. The summit brought together world leaders to discuss key geopolitical, economic and technological challenges facing the international community.
