A shocking murder case in Canada has left the Indian community in deep sorrow, as police confirm that Indian-origin woman Amanpreet Saini was found dead in a park in Lincoln, Ontario. The 27-year-old victim, originally from Punjab’s Sangrur district, was discovered with severe traumatic injuries, and investigators have now launched an international manhunt for Indian-origin suspect Manpreet Singh, wanted for second-degree murder.
According to the Niagara Regional Police Service, Manpreet Singh, a 27-year-old Brampton resident, is believed to have fled to India shortly after Amanpreet Saini’s murder. Police say evidence suggests it was a targeted attack, assuring the public that there is no ongoing threat to community safety.
“Investigators have information to suggest that Singh fled the country shortly after Amanpreet’s body was discovered,” the police said in an official statement. Authorities have also released Singh’s photograph, warning the public not to approach him if spotted and to call 911 immediately.
Sources indicate that Canadian security agencies have already contacted Indian authorities to locate and detain Manpreet Singh, who has strong family connections in Punjab. The case has now gained international attention, highlighting the growing cooperation between Canadian and Indian police in cross-border criminal cases.
Friends and acquaintances of Amanpreet Saini in Toronto described her as kind-hearted and hardworking. Having lived in Canada for several years, she was reportedly building a new life when tragedy struck. Her death has sparked outrage among the Indian diaspora in Canada, calling for swift justice and better protection for women living abroad.
The murder of Indian-origin woman Amanpreet Saini and the escape of suspect Manpreet Singh have raised serious questions about international fugitives and extradition laws. Authorities remain hopeful that coordination between both countries will lead to his arrest soon.
This case has deeply shaken both the Indian and Canadian communities, marking yet another reminder of the urgent need for stronger safety measures and faster justice for victims of gender-based violence
