More than 500 Indian nationals stranded in Qatar were evacuated on March 11 as tensions continue to rise across West Asia following the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States. According to the Embassy of India in Qatar, the evacuees traveled to New Delhi and other destinations on special flights operated by Qatar Airways.
The Indian mission confirmed that the evacuation took place on March 11 as part of precautionary measures amid growing security concerns in the region. Authorities also said additional flights were scheduled to operate between Qatar and India to help Indian citizens return home safely if required.
In an advisory issued to the Indian community, the embassy urged residents to remain alert and follow official safety instructions. Citizens were specifically warned not to approach any unidentified objects, debris, or fragments that may be found in public areas and to report such discoveries immediately to local authorities by calling emergency services.
To support Indian nationals during the crisis, the embassy has activated three round-the-clock helplines and accelerated passport services. Officials said that urgent passport requests are being processed quickly, with Tatkal passports issued within one to two days to assist those who may need to travel.
The evacuations come as tensions in West Asia continue to escalate following military strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran in late February. The conflict has raised concerns about regional security, disrupted air travel and maritime routes, and prompted governments to issue advisories for their citizens living or working in the region.
Indian authorities have said they are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide assistance to Indian citizens in affected areas if conditions worsen.
