iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Go on Sale in India

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Go on Sale in India

Post by : Rohit Dhiman

Apple has officially started selling its latest premium smartphones in India, with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max becoming available to customers from September 18. The new models have reached Apple Stores and authorised retail outlets across the country, giving customers an opportunity to purchase Apple's latest Pro-generation smartphones in person or through official sales channels. Apple had previously confirmed that both models would be available in India from September 18. The launch has attracted considerable attention in major Indian cities. In Mumbai, customers gathered outside Apple's Jio World Drive store in the Bandra Kurla Complex, with some buyers arriving several hours before the store opened.

Customers queue up in Mumbai

Long queues were reported outside Apple's Mumbai store as buyers turned up for the new devices. Some customers arrived late at night or in the early morning to secure their scheduled purchase slots. One customer who travelled from Nashik said he had been waiting since around 10 PM the previous night for his morning slot. The scenes added to the excitement around the India launch, with customers eager to get their hands on the latest models immediately after they became available. Apple's official information confirms that the new Pro models became available in India and several other markets on September 18.

iPhone 18 Pro price starts at Rs 1,64,900

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at Rs 1,64,900 in India for the 256GB configuration. The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,79,900 for the 256GB model. Both smartphones are also available with higher storage configurations, with options extending up to 2TB. This gives customers who store large numbers of photographs, videos, applications and other files several capacity choices. Apple's India store currently lists the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max as new models, with the Pro starting at Rs 1,64,900.

A20 Pro chip brings upgraded performance

A major hardware upgrade in the new generation is Apple's A20 Pro chip. The processor is designed to provide stronger performance while supporting demanding tasks such as advanced photography, video processing, gaming and artificial intelligence features. Apple says the new Pro models combine the A20 Pro with a next-generation vapour chamber to deliver sustained performance. The company has also highlighted improvements in battery life as one of the major areas of the latest generation. The upgraded processor is also an important part of Apple's wider push to integrate AI capabilities more deeply into the iPhone experience.

48MP camera gets variable aperture

The camera system is another major focus of the new smartphones. The iPhone 18 Pro camera includes a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture. Apple says the technology provides greater control over photography and allows users to adjust the camera experience across different shooting situations. The Pro camera system also includes additional 48MP Fusion cameras, giving the new models a broad photography setup aimed at both everyday users and people who use their phones for more advanced image and video work. The variable-aperture technology is one of the key changes Apple has highlighted for this generation.

Apple Intelligence and Siri AI included

Artificial intelligence is another major feature of the new Pro models. The phones run iOS 27 and include the next generation of Apple Intelligence along with Siri AI capabilities. Apple describes the new Siri experience as more capable and personal, while also emphasizing privacy and security. The AI features are integrated into the wider iPhone software experience rather than being presented as a separate application. Apple is also positioning the latest Pro models as intelligent devices that can combine on-device capabilities with personal context while maintaining its privacy-focused approach.

Battery performance receives an upgrade

Battery life has been another major area of improvement. Apple says the new Pro models deliver significant battery improvements, with the iPhone 18 Pro Max receiving the largest battery-life increase ever seen on an iPhone according to the company. The updated battery design works alongside Apple's silicon improvements and the new processor to provide longer usage between charges. For customers who use their smartphones heavily for video, photography, gaming and other demanding activities, battery performance remains an important factor when choosing a premium device.

Four colour options available

Apple has introduced the latest Pro models in four finishes: black, silver, glacier and burgundy. The burgundy finish is a new addition to the Pro lineup, while the other options provide more traditional choices for customers. The four finishes are available across the new iPhone 18 Pro range, giving buyers an opportunity to select a design according to their preference.

Up to 2TB storage available

Storage is another area where customers have multiple options. The new Pro models offer configurations reaching up to 2TB, targeting users who require substantial storage for high-resolution photographs, videos and other large files. The availability of larger storage options is particularly relevant for users who record a significant amount of high-quality video or use their phones for professional content creation. The combination of expanded storage, improved camera hardware and stronger processing makes the Pro models particularly focused on users who want advanced capabilities from a smartphone.

Strong interest during India launch

The iPhone 18 Pro India launch has generated strong interest among customers in Mumbai and other parts of the country. People turning up early at stores underline the importance of Apple's Pro lineup in the premium smartphone segment. For some buyers, purchasing the latest model on launch day has become an annual event. Apple's official retail presence in India has also expanded the ways customers can purchase and receive support for its products. The company says customers can shop online or in stores and receive assistance from Apple Specialists, including help with trade-in, financing and device setup.

Premium smartphone market gets a new flagship

The latest models arrive with a combination of upgraded processing, camera technology, battery performance and artificial intelligence features. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is positioned as the larger premium option, while the iPhone 18 Pro offers many of the same core technologies in a smaller format. With prices starting at Rs 1,64,900 and Rs 1,79,900 respectively, the two devices remain firmly positioned in India's premium smartphone segment. The availability of 256GB as the starting storage configuration and options reaching up to 2TB gives customers a wider range of choices depending on their requirements and budget.
