Beijing – World number two Jannik Sinner produced a brilliant performance to defeat American teenager Learner Tien 6-2, 6-2 in the China Open 2025 final on Wednesday. With this victory, Sinner lifted his third title of the year and the 21st ATP Tour-level trophy of his career.
The result came just a day after Carlos Alcaraz won the Japan Open, marking the first time since 2020 that the top two players in the world rankings captured titles in the same week. Back then, Novak Djokovic triumphed in Dubai and Rafael Nadal won in Acapulco.
During the trophy presentation, Sinner expressed his gratitude to his team and fans, calling Beijing “a very special place” for him. “We’ll try to keep improving and push harder for the rest of the season. I’m very happy to share this trophy with all of you,” he said.

Sinner entered the final after a tough semi-final battle against Alex de Minaur, where he struggled with a stomach bug. However, in the final, the Italian showed no signs of discomfort. He broke Tien’s serve in the opening game and maintained control throughout the match to secure a comfortable win.
For 19-year-old Tien, it was a career milestone as he contested his first ATP Tour final. He aimed to become the youngest American to win an ATP title since Andy Roddick in 2002. Despite showing flashes of talent and creating break opportunities, Tien was unable to stop Sinner’s dominance.
Sinner sealed victory on his third match point, becoming the second player after Novak Djokovic to win multiple titles at the Beijing ATP 500 event. Praising his opponent, Sinner said: “You’ve shown all season what a great talent you are. Keep working hard—you’re playing incredible tennis, and I wish you the best for your future.”
With the China Open crown, Sinner now turns his focus to the Shanghai Masters, while Alcaraz continues to recover from injury. The tennis season is heating up as the rivalry between the world’s top two promises more thrilling battles ahead.
