A book donation ceremony was held at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University under the internationally recognized “Read Japan” project, an initiative supported by The Nippon Foundation. The event highlighted the growing educational and cultural cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan while providing students and researchers with access to valuable academic resources.
The ceremony was attended by Hiroshi Sasaki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan, along with representatives from the Embassy of Japan. University officials, faculty members and students also participated in the event, which emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and international academic collaboration.
The donated collection included a wide range of educational, scientific and literary publications. The books cover subjects such as Japanese science and technology, environmental protection, sustainable development goals, renewable energy solutions and green technologies. These materials are expected to support research activities and enhance learning opportunities for students across various disciplines.
In addition to scientific publications, the donation featured dictionaries and books dedicated to Japanese language, culture, literature and traditional arts. The collection offers students an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Japan’s rich cultural heritage while strengthening academic interest in international studies and language learning.
During the visit, Japanese representatives were introduced to the university’s academic structure, educational programs and scientific achievements. Discussions focused on expanding future cooperation through joint projects, academic exchanges and research initiatives that can benefit both countries and their educational institutions.
University leaders and members of the faculty highlighted the steady development of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation in the fields of science and education. Both sides noted that modern educational challenges require stronger international partnerships and the sharing of knowledge, innovation and best practices.
Participants emphasized that the Read Japan project has become an important symbol of friendship between the two nations. The continued donation of books to universities across Turkmenistan reflects a shared commitment to cultural understanding, educational advancement and humanitarian cooperation. The initiative is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations while creating new opportunities for students, researchers and educators in the years ahead.
