Japan booked a mouth-watering FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash against Brazil after earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Sweden in their final Group F match in Arlington, Texas. The result helped Japan finish second in the group with five points, while the Netherlands topped the standings with seven points.
The Samurai Blue now prepare for one of the biggest matches of the tournament as they face five-time world champions Brazil.
Maeda Gives Japan Early Advantage
After a cautious first half, Japan broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when Daizen Maeda calmly finished after a perfectly timed through ball from Ritsu Doan. The goal rewarded Japan's impressive ball possession and attacking intent throughout the match.
However, Sweden responded quickly as Anthony Elanga equalised just six minutes later with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area.

Japan finished second in Group F after collecting five points from three matches. The Netherlands claimed first place with seven points after defeating Tunisia 3-1. According to the FIFA knockout bracket, the Group F runners-up will face Brazil, who advanced from Group C.
