India Says J&K Budget Exceeds Pakistan’s IMF Bailout

India Says J&K Budget Exceeds Pakistan’s IMF Bailout

Post by : Shakul

India delivered a strong and pointed response to Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), firmly rejecting allegations regarding the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. India accused Islamabad of spreading misinformation and propaganda to misrepresent the region’s development and progress.

During the high-level discussion, India’s representative highlighted that Pakistan appeared disconnected from reality if it questioned the development achievements in Jammu and Kashmir. She pointed out that the Union Territory’s development budget is more than double the recent bailout package Pakistan requested from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), emphasizing the contrast between governance and economic progress in India versus Pakistan’s financial struggles.

The representative reiterated India’s position that Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. She underscored that the region’s accession to India in 1947 was fully legal and irrevocable, in accordance with the Indian Independence Act and international law.

India further accused Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism and attempting to destabilize the region, while stressing that Jammu and Kashmir continues to make steady political, economic, and social progress. High voter turnout in recent elections was cited as evidence that the people of the region have rejected the ideology of violence and terrorism and are actively participating in democratic processes.

The exchange marks another instance of sharp diplomatic confrontation between India and Pakistan at multilateral forums such as the UNHRC, reflecting the ongoing tensions over the status, development, and security of Jammu and Kashmir.
