The Jonas Brothers’ latest holiday movie dives right in—especially targeting Joe’s long and tumultuous dating history. Released on Disney+ on November 14, the film follows Joe, Nick, and Kevin as they portray exaggerated versions of themselves on a wild journey from London to New York, racing to reach home before Christmas.
What begins as a light premise soon takes a chaotic turn. Santa, played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, casts a playful spell on the brothers, aiming to reunite them after they’ve drifted apart. Every hurdle faced leads to tense discussions that they have avoided for years.
Joe Jonas in the Limelight
The brothers embrace the humor, with Joe taking the brunt of the jokes. The film drops clever quips—some cleverly subtle, others less so. At one point, Kevin quips, “How many ‘connections’ have you had this month?” to which Nick adds, “Joe can’t count that high.”
During a disagreement on the wrong train in Amsterdam, Nick is called “uptight,” Kevin gets labeled as “human cardboard,” and Joe is dubbed “lovable vagabond.”
A Romantic Encounter and Real Conversations
Joe’s storyline takes a turn when he meets Lucy, portrayed by Chloe Bennet, a childhood companion. They meander through Amsterdam discussing their past relationships.
Joe reveals, “I’ve had my share of tough breakups too,” a moment that resonates with his impending divorce from Sophie Turner in 2024.
Lucy then expresses her uncertainty in dealing with someone whose personal life is so publicly scrutinized. Joe chuckles and agrees, “Yeah, that’s pretty much how it goes.” This brief exchange stands out as one of the few genuine moments in the film.
Facing the 'Womanizer' Label and Finding Resolution
A pivotal scene occurs when the brothers find themselves surrounded by wolves in the wild. Joe confronts Nick about his superior attitude, expressing how their constant jabs make him feel like a “superficial womanizer.” He questions, “Am I really just the shallow fool my brothers claim I am?”
The film wraps up in classic festive fashion with reconciliations, decorations, and Kevin and Nick delighting Joe with an unexpected appearance by Lucy. In a heartfelt moment, Joe confesses, “I was scared of falling for you and the potential fallout,” before they share a kiss in front of the group.
