K Annamalai, former Tamil Nadu BJP state president, has held a series of important meetings with senior BJP leadership in New Delhi amid growing discussions over internal differences and organisational strategy in the state unit.
According to sources familiar with the developments, Annamalai met BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and party organisation general secretary B L Santhosh during his visit.
The discussions reportedly focused on the current state of the BJP in Tamil Nadu, alliance coordination with the AIADMK, and internal organisational challenges faced by the party in the region.
Sources said Annamalai expressed dissatisfaction over certain developments within the Tamil Nadu BJP and highlighted key concerns that he believes have affected the party’s electoral performance and grassroots growth.
He is also understood to have raised issues regarding the functioning of some state-level leaders as well as coordination challenges involving alliance partners.
Despite speculation over his future role, sources confirmed that no resignation or exit discussion took place during his meeting with Amit Shah, and he continues to remain an active member of the party.
The BJP leadership, meanwhile, is said to be carefully reviewing the feedback and is consulting multiple stakeholders, including newly appointed Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran, who recently arrived in Delhi for discussions.
Party insiders suggest that the central leadership is attempting to understand internal concerns in detail before making any structural or organisational decisions regarding the state unit.
In a key development, the leadership has reportedly assured support for Annamalai’s proposed statewide public outreach programme, which he believes could strengthen the party’s grassroots presence in Tamil Nadu.
The leadership is expected to continue consultations over the coming days, with no immediate decision likely as the party prefers internal dialogue over public confrontation.
Three possible paths are currently being discussed within the party framework — support for Annamalai’s outreach campaign with an expanded role, a reconciliation effort between competing factions, or organisational restructuring if required.
For now, senior leaders have emphasised that dialogue remains the priority, with the aim of maintaining unity and avoiding any visible internal rift.
With both Annamalai and Nainar Nagendran engaging with the central leadership, the BJP appears focused on managing differences internally while preparing its long-term political strategy for Tamil Nadu ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.
