Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited film ‘Kantara Chapter 1’, released on October 2, has become one of the most talked-about movies of the year. However, it is not only the film’s powerful storytelling, breathtaking visuals, and stellar performances that have drawn attention — but also a surprising continuity mistake that has now gone viral on social media.
The movie, which is set in the 4th century AD, showcases the deep cultural and spiritual traditions of that era. However, during the ‘Brahmakalasha’ song sequence, a 20-litre plastic water can was spotted in the background during a community lunch scene. This unexpected modern item instantly caught the eye of viewers, as plastic did not exist in that historical period. Within hours, screenshots of the scene spread across the internet, turning into a trending topic and sparking a flood of humorous reactions and comparisons.
Many fans were quick to link the blunder to another famous pop-culture moment — the ‘Game of Thrones’ coffee cup mistake from its final season. Social media users began posting memes and comments, with one fan joking, “Kantara just had its own Game of Thrones moment.” Another user humorously remarked, “Looks like the Kadambas were the first to use plastic water cans.” Memes referring to “Paid partnership with Bisleri” and “The water can represents Rishab Shetty’s humble roots” also began circulating online, making the scene an instant meme sensation.
While some viewers found the blooper entertaining, others felt disappointed that such an error slipped through in a film that otherwise pays so much attention to detail. One user wrote, “It’s a small miss, but a film as grand as Kantara deserves perfection in every frame.” Another suggested, “It’s an honest mistake by the editors. Hopefully, it will be fixed in the OTT version.”
Despite this minor controversy, ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ continues to perform exceptionally well at the box office, surpassing Rs 400 crore nett in India. The film has been praised for its emotional depth, storytelling, and the way it blends folklore with divine mysticism. Rishab Shetty, who both directed and starred in the film, has been widely celebrated for his vision and dedication.
Several well-known personalities from the film industry, including Atlee, Yash, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Ram Gopal Varma, Anupam Kher, KL Rahul, and Suniel Shetty, have expressed their admiration for the movie, calling it one of the most powerful cinematic experiences of the year.
While the plastic water can mistake may have caused laughter and comparisons online, it has not overshadowed the massive success of ‘Kantara Chapter 1’. In fact, the viral discussion has only added to the movie’s popularity, keeping it in the spotlight weeks after its release.
The film remains a strong example of how a small on-screen oversight can spark widespread debate, but true cinematic excellence always prevails. ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ continues to dominate both the hearts of audiences and the box office charts, proving that even a funny error can’t stop a great story from shining
