Khao Khitchakut National Park in Chanthaburi was filled with devotion last night as hundreds of worshippers arrived to take part in the annual Buddha footprint pilgrimage. This sacred event, one of Thailand’s most important spiritual traditions, has officially opened for 2026 and will continue until March 19.
Even though it was late in the evening, pilgrims continued to climb the mountain, carrying glowing lanterns that lit up the paths leading to the holy site. Many devotees brought offerings such as flowers, incense, and candles, praying with sincere hearts for health, happiness, and success in the coming year.
The Buddha footprint at Khao Khitchakut is considered a holy spot where the Buddha once stood. For centuries, Buddhists from all over the country have made this pilgrimage each year, believing that visiting the site brings good fortune, spiritual merit, and a sense of peace.
The pilgrimage is not only a religious practice but also a moment for families and friends to come together. It gives visitors a chance to reflect on their lives, express gratitude, and start the new year with positive intentions. Park authorities have arranged facilities to manage the growing number of visitors, ensuring everyone can make the journey safely and respectfully.
Visitors are reminded to dress modestly, follow the park’s rules, and maintain the sacred atmosphere while on the mountain. This annual pilgrimage remains one of Thailand’s most respected spiritual traditions, attracting both local devotees and international travelers seeking a meaningful experience.
With lanterns shining through the night and the sound of prayers filling the air, Khao Khitchakut National Park continues to be a place where faith, hope, and devotion come alive every year.
