Kim Calls for Stronger Military as South Expands Drones

Kim Calls for Stronger Military as South Expands Drones

Post by : Shakul

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called for a stronger and more destructive military posture after overseeing a series of major weapons tests. According to state media, the tests included a tactical ballistic missile equipped with a special mission warhead, an upgraded multiple rocket launcher and an improved self-propelled artillery system with extended firing range.

Kim said the successful tests demonstrated significant progress in strengthening North Korea's military capabilities and improving its ability to respond to security threats along the Korean Peninsula.

Kim Stresses Powerful Offensive Capability

During the inspection, Kim emphasized that North Korea must continue building a military force capable of deterring its enemies. He said maintaining a powerful offensive posture is necessary to ensure that no country dares to challenge North Korea.

State media reported that the newly tested special warhead is designed to strike key military and strategic infrastructure, including airfields, ports and power facilities during any future conflict.

South Korea Announces Massive Drone Expansion

Soon after North Korea's announcement, South Korea's Defence Ministry unveiled a major plan to strengthen its drone warfare capabilities. Defence Minister Ahn Gyu-back said the country will acquire more than 20,000 reconnaissance and attack drones while developing new long-range explosive drones for future military operations.

The government also plans to train all 500,000 military personnel across the army, navy, air force and marines to operate drones efficiently as part of modern battlefield strategies.

Rising Security Concerns Across the Peninsula

South Korean officials said the expansion is necessary because North Korea continues to modernize its military and is believed to be receiving military technology support from Russia. Officials noted that drone warfare has become one of the most important elements of modern conflicts, particularly after lessons learned from the Russia-Ukraine war.

Authorities believe strengthening drone capabilities will improve surveillance, rapid response and national defence preparedness.

Military Tensions Continue to Grow

Relations between North and South Korea remain highly strained as diplomatic talks with the United States have remained stalled. Since negotiations collapsed in 2019, Kim Jong Un has accelerated the development of both nuclear and conventional weapons while strengthening military cooperation with Russia.

Earlier this week, North Korea also commissioned its newest 5,000-ton destroyer, Choe Hyon, highlighting continued investment in naval and strategic defence capabilities.

Region Watches Future Developments Closely

The latest military developments have raised concerns across Northeast Asia as both Koreas continue investing heavily in advanced defence technologies. Analysts believe the growing focus on missiles, drones and conventional weapons could further increase tensions unless diplomatic engagement resumes in the future.

Governments across the region continue monitoring military activities while calling for stability and peaceful dialogue on the Korean Peninsula.
