A violent altercation near the iconic Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur has left two men injured, following an alleged assault involving a group of illegal photographers.
According to eyewitness accounts shared on social media, the incident occurred when a group of photographers, reportedly operating without permits, became aggressive and got into a confrontation with foreign tourists at the busy tourist hotspot.
Two local drink sellers who attempted to intervene and de-escalate the situation were allegedly attacked by the group. Both men sustained head injuries, with one requiring seven stitches and the other receiving two. Their goods were also damaged during the incident.
The presence of unauthorized photographers around KLCC has been a long-standing issue, with repeated complaints about harassment and aggressive tactics targeting tourists. Authorities have previously conducted enforcement operations, but concerns persist over recurring incidents.
A police report has been filed, and authorities are expected to investigate the matter further. Officials from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) have also been urged to take stricter action to prevent such incidents in the future.
The incident has once again raised questions about public safety and regulation at one of Malaysia’s most visited landmarks, highlighting the need for tighter enforcement against illegal activities in high-traffic tourist areas.
