The Haryana State Women’s Commission has ordered the immediate suspension of three nurses following serious allegations of sexual assault involving a minor girl at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Civil Hospital in Kurukshetra. The action came after Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia personally visited the hospital and reviewed the circumstances surrounding the case.
During her inspection, Bhatia questioned hospital administrators, medical officers, nursing staff, and other employees regarding the events that allegedly took place inside the hospital. She expressed concern over what she described as significant lapses in patient safety and supervision, particularly regarding how a minor patient was left alone with a male doctor.
According to information shared during the inquiry, the victim had initially visited the hospital for treatment related to stomach pain. Allegations later emerged that the accused doctor misled the patient regarding her medical condition and used the opportunity to gain her trust. The case is currently under investigation by law enforcement authorities, while hospital officials are also facing scrutiny over their handling of the matter.
The Women’s Commission Chairperson raised questions about the role of on-duty staff members and sought explanations as to why no nurse or attendant was present during critical moments. She stated that every healthcare institution has a responsibility to ensure the safety and dignity of patients, especially minors and vulnerable individuals receiving treatment.
Bhatia also directed authorities to examine the circumstances under which the accused doctor had returned to service despite previous legal cases reportedly linked to him. The Commission has sought detailed reports from hospital management and relevant government departments to determine whether any procedural failures occurred during appointments or monitoring.
The victim, who remains under medical observation, reportedly shared details of her experience during a counseling session conducted by the Commission. Officials stated that efforts are being made to provide appropriate medical, psychological, and legal support to the child and her family as investigations continue.
The Haryana State Women’s Commission has emphasized that accountability will extend beyond the primary accused if evidence of negligence, misconduct, or complicity by any hospital staff member is established. Authorities have assured that all aspects of the case will be examined thoroughly to ensure justice and strengthen patient safety measures in public healthcare institutions.
