Kyrgyzstan Prepares for F1H2O Grand Prix

Post by : Shakul

Kyrgyzstan has intensified preparations for the upcoming UIM F1H2O World Championship – Kyrgyzstan Grand Prix at Issyk-Kul, with senior officials highlighting the event as a major opportunity to strengthen tourism, international visibility and investment opportunities in the country. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev chaired a high-level meeting in Bishkek to review preparations for the international sporting event and discuss other key tourism development projects.

During the meeting, Adylbek Kasymaliev stated that the Formula 1 World Water Motorsports Championship will be hosted in Central Asia for the first time, making it a historic event for the region. Officials believe the championship will allow Kyrgyzstan to present its tourism attractions, infrastructure potential and investment opportunities to a global audience. The event is scheduled to take place in the Issyk-Kul region in August 2026 and is expected to attract international athletes, visitors, investors and media coverage from around the world.

The meeting focused heavily on infrastructure and organizational preparations required for the championship. Government agencies were instructed to ensure that transportation systems, tourism facilities, accommodation services and public safety arrangements are fully prepared ahead of the competition. Authorities also reviewed plans to improve connectivity and visitor services in the Issyk-Kul region, one of Kyrgyzstan’s most famous tourist destinations known for its scenic mountain landscapes and large alpine lake.

Special attention was also given to the national project “Chatkal Resort,” which is aimed at expanding mountain tourism and creating modern tourism infrastructure in the country. Officials discussed the progress of the project and its potential to attract both domestic and foreign investment into the tourism sector. The project is expected to support long-term economic growth by creating new business opportunities, improving tourism services and promoting sustainable development in mountain regions.

The State Agency for Tourism Development also presented updates during the meeting regarding its ongoing tourism promotion efforts. Authorities discussed strategies to increase international tourist arrivals and strengthen Kyrgyzstan’s image as a major travel destination in Central Asia. Government representatives stressed the importance of combining sports tourism, eco-tourism and investment development to create broader economic benefits for local communities and businesses.

Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized that hosting an international championship of this scale requires close coordination among all government departments and local authorities. He instructed relevant agencies to ensure that every aspect of the event is managed at a high professional standard. Officials were also directed to complete necessary preparations within the planned timeline so the country can successfully host visitors and participants from around the world.

The upcoming UIM F1H2O World Championship is expected to significantly raise Kyrgyzstan’s global profile in the fields of tourism and international sports. Officials believe that successful hosting of the event will strengthen the country’s reputation as a destination for international competitions and adventure tourism. Alongside the development of projects such as Chatkal Resort, the government hopes these initiatives will help create jobs, boost regional economies and attract long-term investment into Kyrgyzstan’s tourism industry.
