A key development in the tourism sector of Kyrgyzstan took place in Bishkek, where the government introduced a new leader for the State Agency for Tourism Development. The announcement marks a renewed push to strengthen the country’s tourism industry.
The appointment was officially announced by Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers. He introduced Eduard Kubatov as the new director, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the sector forward.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted tourism as a vital contributor to the country’s socio-economic development. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan holds significant untapped potential and that the government will continue to prioritize tourism growth.
Officials also shared key figures reflecting the sector’s progress. In 2025, tourism service exports exceeded $1 billion, while nearly 129,000 entities were actively operating in the tourism industry, showcasing its expanding footprint.
The government outlined several important priorities for the agency, including improving tourism-related legislation, enhancing service delivery through digital platforms, and ensuring that tourists experience safe and comfortable travel conditions across the country.
Kasymaliev expressed optimism that the new director will accelerate the implementation of priority projects, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to sustainable tourism development. He also stressed the importance of adopting modern technologies to meet global tourism standards.
The meeting concluded with the Prime Minister extending his best wishes to Eduard Kubatov, encouraging him to achieve key objectives and further elevate Kyrgyzstan’s tourism sector on both regional and international levels.
