Portuguese football star Diogo Jota has died in a tragic car crash in Spain. He was only 28 years old.

Diogo Jota, who played as a forward for Liverpool, was travelling with his younger brother Andre, aged 26, when their car went off the road and caught fire. The accident happened near the town of Palacios de Sanabria, along the A-52 highway in Zamora, Spain. Sadly, both brothers died at the scene.

Emergency services in the Castilla and Leon region received many calls about the crash. When firefighters, medical teams, and police arrived, the car was already burning. Medical staff confirmed that both men had lost their lives in the accident.

This heartbreaking news comes just days after Diogo Jota married his long-time partner, Rute Cardoso. The couple got married in Porto on June 22, 2025, and shared beautiful photos from their wedding on social media with the caption, “Yes to forever.” They have three children together.

Diogo Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £41 million. Since then, he has become an important part of the team, loved by fans for his speed, skills, and hardworking attitude. His sudden death has shocked the football world, and many players and fans are paying tribute to him online.

People everywhere are saddened by the loss of such a talented and humble player who had a bright future ahead.
