India Witnesses Chandra Grahan Blood Moon Visible in Parts of World

India Witnesses Chandra Grahan Blood Moon Visible in Parts of World

Post by : Shakul

The lunar eclipse set to occur in 2026 will be visible in many parts of the world, including India. However, the complete phase of the eclipse will not be visible from most regions of India. According to astronomical calculations, the eclipse will begin in the afternoon and continue into the evening. During the total phase, the Moon will be below the horizon in much of India, which means viewers will mainly witness only the final or partial stage around moonrise.

As per Indian Standard Time (IST), the eclipse will begin at approximately 3:20 PM. The total phase is expected to start around 4:34 PM and continue until 5:33 PM, while the overall eclipse will conclude at about 6:48 PM. People in northeastern India and parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands may have a better chance of seeing the last moments of totality, depending on weather conditions.

Meanwhile, countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and several Pacific nations will experience the full total lunar eclipse. In these regions, skywatchers will be able to see the spectacular “Blood Moon,” when the Moon appears deep red or copper in color. This reddish glow occurs because Earth’s atmosphere bends and filters sunlight, allowing primarily red wavelengths to reach the Moon during totality.

In India, the lunar eclipse is also considered religiously significant. Many people may observe fasts during the eclipse period, and several temples could remain temporarily closed. They are expected to reopen after the eclipse ends, following traditional purification rituals.
