Malaysia will continue to uphold justice, peace, and human dignity as central pillars of its foreign policy, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, reaffirming the country’s longstanding commitment to principled engagement on the international stage.
Speaking during a question-and-answer session at his public lecture titled “Power Shifts: Strategic Choices for Malaysia and Turkiye”, Anwar said Malaysia remains open and ready to support multilateral efforts aimed at resolving global conflicts, including participation in international peacekeeping initiatives under the United Nations framework.
However, he stressed that Malaysia’s involvement would be guided by respect for international cooperation and regional leadership, noting that the country has no intention of overstepping the roles of neighbouring states or major global players directly involved in conflict resolution processes.
“We are open. Whatever is necessary, or wherever help is required, we are prepared to contribute,” Anwar said, adding that Malaysia’s approach is rooted in collaboration, diplomacy, and mutual respect among nations.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Malaysia’s humanitarian concerns are not limited to a single crisis. While acknowledging the ongoing conflict in Gaza, he pointed out that Malaysia also remains deeply concerned about the plight of the Rohingya community in Myanmar, as well as displaced and vulnerable populations across Southeast Asia, including in Cambodia and Thailand.
He said Malaysia would continue to engage within its capacity to support peace and humanitarian efforts, while working alongside regional partners and international institutions to address complex and sensitive issues.
Anwar underscored that Malaysia’s foreign policy is firmly grounded in universal values, emphasizing that the nation’s international stance is driven by a belief in justice, peace, and the inherent dignity of all people, regardless of geographic location or political complexity.
He added that Malaysia’s commitment reflects its broader responsibility as a member of the global community, striving to promote stability, humanitarian principles, and constructive dialogue in an increasingly interconnected world.
