Nearly one year after siblings Jack and Lilly Sullivan vanished in Nova Scotia, their mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, has actively joined the search efforts led by volunteers. This renewed initiative aimed at uncovering their whereabouts took place near Lansdowne, the last known location of the children in May 2025.
The operation was organized by Please Bring Me Home, a Canadian organization dedicated to finding missing people. Around 40 volunteers, with the assistance of a trained canine capable of detecting human remains, scoured wooded trails and nearby regions surrounding the family's home. A notable find occurred during the search—a child-sized boot print located less than a kilometer from where a piece of Lilly’s blanket had previously been discovered. This significant clue has been reported to law enforcement.
Despite this find, uncertainties linger. Search coordinators remarked on the challenges of determining the age of the footprint or its possible connection to the missing siblings. However, the discovery has rekindled hope for further clues as the search progresses.
At the time of their disappearance, Jack was four years old and Lilly was six. Their mother and her then-partner, Daniel Martell, reported that the children might have wandered off from the house unnoticed. They recounted that the children were supposed to be resting when they realized they were gone. This inquiry quickly transformed into one of the most followed missing persons cases in the region.
Over the past year, the case has garnered significant public interest and speculation, especially across digital platforms. Brooks-Murray, who largely kept to herself during this period, recently shared her experience, detailing how emotional distress led her to leave the area shortly after the incident. She has affirmed her full cooperation with law enforcement while focusing on her younger child.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police continue their investigation, considering all potential scenarios, including accidental wandering and possible criminal connections. Authorities have also acknowledged that they are analyzing digital evidence in their ongoing inquiry.
Organizers of the search maintained that including the mother was based on their conviction that she has not shown any wrongdoing and is genuinely committed to locating her children. Volunteers described her involvement as proactive and supportive, aiding in the coordination of search efforts.
Nearly a year on, the fate of Jack and Lilly Sullivan remains a mystery. Nevertheless, both volunteers and investigators express optimism, believing that answers will eventually surface, whether through persistent searches or new findings.
