The Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee under Nepal’s House of Representatives has come to an important agreement on the School Education Bill.
In a meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday, the committee members discussed and agreed on how private schools should be managed and how early childhood education should be organized.
They decided that private schools in Nepal should slowly become service-oriented and non-profit. This means private schools will focus more on providing good education to children rather than making money. Committee Chairperson Ammar Bahadur Thapa said that all members supported this idea of turning private schools into welfare-based institutions for the benefit of society.
Along with this, the committee also made an important decision about early childhood education. They agreed that early childhood development (ECD) education would be structured as a two-year program. Chairperson Thapa said local governments will now be allowed to run Early Childhood Development centers in schools. This will help young children develop a strong interest in learning and grow with positive thinking, following the national standards.
These decisions are seen as important steps towards improving Nepal’s education system and giving better learning opportunities to children across the country.
