A newly released dance number featuring Nora Fatehi has sparked widespread backlash on social media over its allegedly vulgar lyrics and suggestive choreography. The song, titled Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke, is part of the upcoming Kannada-language film KD: The Devil.
The track, which also features Sanjay Dutt, quickly went viral after its release, drawing mixed reactions from audiences. While some viewers appreciated Nora Fatehi’s energetic performance and dance skills, a large section of users criticised the song for what they described as “double-meaning” lyrics and inappropriate visuals.
Armaan Malik Expresses Disappointment
Singer Armaan Malik publicly reacted to the controversy, expressing concern over the declining quality of commercial songwriting. Taking to social media platform X, he wrote that he had to replay the song to confirm what he heard, calling it a “new low” for lyrics in mainstream music.
His remarks resonated with many users online, further fueling the debate around lyrical standards in Indian film music.
Internet Divided Over Content
Social media platforms were flooded with reactions, with many users calling the song “vulgar” and questioning how such content passes certification. Some also raised concerns about the song’s influence on younger audiences, especially given its viral reach on short-video platforms.
Others, however, defended the song as part of commercial cinema, arguing that such dance numbers are common in mass entertainers and should not be judged too harshly.
About the Song and Film
Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke is sung by Mangli, with lyrics penned by Raqeeb Alam and music composed by Arjun Janya. The song is designed as a high-energy dance number set in a stylised bar environment.
The film KD: The Devil, directed by Prem, is a pan-India action crime drama set in the 1970s. It stars Dhruva Sarja in the lead role, alongside Shilpa Shetty and Reeshma Nanaiah. The storyline follows the journey of a man named Kaali as he rises in the underworld.
