Pakistan's monsoon season has claimed 126 lives since June 26, while hundreds of people have also been injured as continuous rainfall affects many parts of the country. The highest number of deaths has been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, making them the worst-hit regions during the ongoing weather emergency.
The persistent rain has continued to disrupt normal life in several areas, increasing concerns about public safety and damage to infrastructure.
The National Disaster Management Authority has placed several cities and flood-prone areas on alert as heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue. Officials have warned that the weather could lead to flash floods, landslides, and severe urban flooding in vulnerable districts.
The alert covers Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Tharparkar, and parts of Balochistan, where authorities are closely monitoring the developing situation.
The ongoing rainfall has caused homes to collapse in some locations, while waterlogged roads have disrupted movement in affected communities. Rising rivers and hill torrents are also posing a threat to nearby settlements, increasing the risk for people living in flood-prone areas.
Authorities remain on alert as weather conditions continue to worsen in several parts of the country.
The latest monsoon emergency has once again highlighted Pakistan's vulnerability to increasingly unpredictable weather. With heavy rain continuing across multiple regions, officials are focusing on areas facing the highest risk of flooding and related disasters.
