Malaysia’s top women’s badminton doubles pair, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, have decided to continue their journey with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) until the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. This decision has brought relief and joy to their coaches, teammates, and fans across the country.

Coach Praises Their Role Model Qualities

National women’s doubles head coach, Rosman Razak, said that Pearly and Thinaah are not just great players on the court, but they also set a good example for the junior players in Malaysia. He explained that their discipline, fighting spirit, and strong commitment inspire the younger generation.
“Pearly and Thinaah are very good examples for the juniors. Their commitment is not only important for badminton but also teaches juniors about hard work in life,” Coach Rosman said at the Badminton Academy Malaysia in Bukit Kiara.

Importance of Role Models for Juniors

Coach Rosman explained that young players need role models to guide them in their dreams. He said, “Being a top player is not easy. Juniors need to see successful players like Pearly and Thinaah so they can imagine their own future. Training and playing together with them will help the juniors grow and improve faster.”

New Contract Confirmed with BAM

Yesterday, BAM announced that Pearly and Thinaah had signed a new contract to continue under BAM until the 2028 Olympics. It is understood that their contract was signed at exactly 6.31 pm yesterday, but BAM has not shared the details of the contract.

Speculations Before Contract Renewal

Earlier, there were worries among badminton fans and the sports community because Pearly and Thinaah’s previous contract expired in December last year. For months, people were unsure if they would renew their contract or leave the national team. This caused some anxiety because losing top players like them would have been a big blow for Malaysian badminton.

Upcoming Tournaments for the Pair

Now that their future is confirmed with BAM, Pearly and Thinaah are focusing on their upcoming international tournaments. They will compete in the Japan Open from July 15 to 20, then they will take part in the China Open from July 22 to 27, and finally, they will compete in the World Championships in Paris from August 25 to 31.

Commitment to Bring Glory to Malaysia

Pearly and Thinaah have worked hard over the years to become Malaysia’s top women’s doubles team. They have shown strong teamwork, determination, and a positive attitude. Their decision to continue with BAM shows that they are dedicated to improving themselves further and to making Malaysia proud, especially at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Coach’s Final Words of Encouragement

Coach Rosman said that having Pearly and Thinaah on the team is very important because they motivate everyone around them. He believes that their presence will help the juniors build confidence and train with greater focus. “They will inspire many juniors to believe that they can also reach the top one day,” he added.
