Spring in Phú Thọ marks the beginning of a vibrant festival season that brings Việt Nam’s ancestral land to life. From sacred temples to remote mountain villages, traditional celebrations reflect the deep spiritual beliefs, customs and cultural memory of local communities. These spring festivals not only preserve heritage but also attract a growing number of visitors interested in cultural and spiritual tourism.
Ethnic groups such as the Mường, Mông, Thái, Dao and Tày play a central role in these celebrations. Festivals like Khai Hạ, Gầu Tào and Xên Mường highlight hopes for good harvests, health and harmony. Rooted in agricultural traditions and folk beliefs, these events strengthen community bonds while offering tourists authentic experiences through rituals, folk games, music and traditional cuisine.
One of the most significant events is the Hùng Kings Commemoration Festival, which honors the legendary founders of the Vietnamese nation. Alongside this, restored festivals such as the Chúa Gái Procession Festival and the Du Yến Temple Festival showcase ancient legends, historic figures and unique ceremonial dances, adding depth to Phú Thọ’s cultural tourism appeal.
Spring festivals have become strong drivers of community-based tourism, especially in mountainous areas. Increased visitor numbers during festival periods support local livelihoods through homestays, food services and cultural products. Authorities are focusing on preserving festival traditions while ensuring safety, environmental protection and sustainable tourism practices.
With continued investment in cultural preservation and tourism development, Phú Thọ aims to strengthen its position as a major cultural destination. The province plans to welcome millions of visitors in 2026, using its rich spring festival heritage to promote sustainable growth and celebrate Việt Nam’s ancestral identity.
