From elite cycling teams to motorsports and paralympic events, AI is revolutionizing the operations of athletes, coaches, and organizations.
Sports entities around the world are utilizing AI to boost performance, minimize injuries, control training intensity, and fine-tune in-game strategies. In the UAE, this transition is gaining momentum as a key facet of the nation’s digital transformation agenda, establishing its leadership in the intelligent sports arena.
The Ministry of Sports recently introduced Sportifai, an all-encompassing digital platform that provides AI-equipped tools for sports federations, clubs, and individual athletes. This initiative streamlines operations while offering actionable insights aimed at enhancing training results and competitive tactics.
UAE Team ADQ, a leader in women’s professional cycling, has collaborated with Analog to integrate advanced AI, edge computing, and mixed reality solutions into team logistics. This advancement bestows athletes with sophisticated performance data and decision-making capabilities, setting new standards in competitive cycling.
In motorsports, G42, a UAE-based company, is implementing AI-driven solutions within Formula 1 to deliver real-time data analytics that optimize vehicle performance and race strategy. Concurrently, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), in partnership with UAE organizations, is incorporating AI into medical classification systems in para-sports to improve fairness and engagement standards.
Experts note that the UAE’s solid digital groundwork, coupled with innovative AI usages in coaching, talent recruitment, officiating, and tournament management, position it as a regional frontrunner in smart sports innovations. Development of innovation labs and research platforms aims to forge the next wave of intelligent sports initiatives.
With the global sports AI sector expected to escalate from US$2.4 billion in 2024 to over US$30 billion by 2033, the UAE’s technology adoption guarantees its role as a pivotal player in molding the future of competitive and inclusive sports.
