KUALA LUMPUR — PLUS Malaysia Berhad, the operator of Malaysia’s major highway network, has issued a travel advisory urging motorists to plan their return journeys after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays as traffic volume is expected to surge significantly over the upcoming weekend.
The company said that traffic is projected to peak from March 27 to March 29, with between 2 million and 2.3 million vehicles using the PLUS highway system daily during this period — a notable increase compared to regular days.
PLUS advised road users to make use of its MyPLUS‑TTA digital travel schedule, available through the official PLUS mobile application, to plan optimal travel times and help ease congestion. Following the recommended travel windows can help reduce delays and improve overall traffic flow along major expressways.
To manage the higher volume of vehicles, PLUS will activate Smart Lanes at 34 strategic locations and deploy its PLUSRonda patrol teams on a 24‑hour basis to assist motorists and enhance road safety during the busy return travel period.
Rest and service areas, as well as lay‑bys, have been enhanced to accommodate increased usage, and motorists are reminded to ensure their Touch ’n Go cards or eWallets have sufficient balance before travelling to avoid delays at toll plazas.
Real‑time traffic updates are available through multiple channels including the PLUS application, the Virtual Assistant PUTRI, social media traffic accounts, electronic message signs, and national radio stations.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, exercise patience, and prioritise safety during what is expected to be one of the busiest travel periods of the year on Malaysia’s highways.
