PLUS Urges Early Travel Ahead of Holiday Rush

PLUS Urges Early Travel Ahead of Holiday Rush

Post by : Shakul

PLUS Malaysia Berhad has urged motorists to carefully plan their return journeys ahead of the expected surge in traffic following the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrations and the extended holiday period. The highway operator is encouraging road users to utilize the MyPLUS-TTA digital travel scheduling system to help reduce congestion and ensure smoother travel across the country's busiest expressways.

According to PLUS, traffic volume is expected to increase significantly between June 4 and June 7, which have been identified as the peak travel days. The company estimates that nearly 2.2 million vehicles will use its highway network each day during this period. The increase is being driven by holidaymakers returning to major cities, particularly the Klang Valley, after spending time with family during the festive season and school holidays.

To manage the anticipated traffic surge, PLUS has advised motorists to follow the recommended travel schedules available through the PLUS mobile application. The MyPLUS-TTA platform provides suggested departure times designed to distribute traffic more evenly throughout the day, helping to minimize bottlenecks at major highway sections and reducing travel delays.

As part of its comprehensive traffic management strategy, PLUS has activated Smart Lane operations at 33 strategic locations along its expressway network. These temporary traffic measures are intended to improve traffic flow and maximize road capacity during periods of heavy congestion. Traffic personnel and monitoring teams will also be deployed to ensure quick responses to any incidents that may affect traffic movement.

The company has also assured travelers that all facilities at Rest and Service Areas as well as lay-bys will remain fully operational around the clock. Essential amenities including food outlets, prayer rooms, toilets, and convenience services will be available 24 hours a day to accommodate the increased number of travelers expected during the holiday return period.

Motorists have been reminded to check their Touch 'n Go card balances and ensure sufficient funds are available in RFID and JustGO accounts before entering the highways. PLUS noted that inadequate toll payment balances often contribute to delays at toll plazas and can worsen congestion during peak travel periods.

For real-time traffic information, travelers can access updates through the PLUS App, Waze, Google Maps, electronic message boards, national radio stations, and the company's official social media channels. PLUS emphasized that responsible journey planning, adherence to traffic advisories, and safe driving practices are essential to ensuring a smooth and safe return journey for all road users during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
