For the first half of 2026, Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) announced a net profit after taxes of AED803.9 million, showing a remarkable increase of 15.3% from AED697.2 million in the same period of 2025.
This growth can be attributed to managed expansion across core operations, significantly enhanced revenue streams, improved operational efficiency, and a sound capital base. Such factors are key in fostering the Bank's long-term growth strategies and expansion initiatives.
During the first six months of 2026, the income derived from investments in Islamic financing and sukuk reached around AED2.1 billion. This marks an impressive 12.1% growth, or AED227.6 million, from approximately AED1.9 billion in the same timeframe the previous year.
Moreover, distributions to both depositors and sukuk holders rose to approximately AED1.2 billion, an increase from AED1.1 billion in early 2025. This increase reflects sustained business growth and a commitment to balanced returns for stakeholders.
Sharjah Islamic Bank has successfully diversified its non-financing income avenues throughout the reporting period.
Net fee and commission income surged by 8.1% to AED445.7 million, compared with AED412.4 million one year prior. Thus, total operating income grew to AED1.4 billion, rising by AED238.5 million, reflecting an annual growth rate of 20.5%. This enhanced performance is rooted in balanced growth across financing, investments, and banking services, with a notable rise in non-financing income contributions.
The first half of 2026 saw general and administrative expenses climb to AED475.2 million, up from AED405.4 million the previous year, reflecting a 17.2% increase.
The Bank attributed this rise in expenses to ongoing investments in talent, technological developments, operational advancements, and overall customer experience enhancements.
Despite the expense increase, net operating income before impairment provisions and taxes rose to AED925.8 million, up from AED757.2 million in the first half of 2025, reflecting a growth rate of 22.3%.
During the first six months of 2026, impairment provisions for financial assets were at AED79.2 million, while recoveries reached AED37.9 million.
In the same period of 2025, impairment provisions stood at AED60.9 million, with recoveries at AED70.2 million.
The Bank also saw its non-performing financing ratio improve, reducing to 3.6% from 3.8% at the end of 2025, with coverage ratios at 107%, slightly down from 109% at year-end.
Such metrics underscore the Bank's continued commitment to prudent credit management and effective risk control while ensuring financial robustness.
By the end of H1 2026, total assets expanded to AED94.5 billion, up from AED90.3 billion at the end of 2025, representing an increase of AED4.2 billion or 4.7%.
Furthermore, the Bank's Islamic financing portfolio has grown to AED49.9 billion, compared to AED45.6 billion the previous year, indicating a growth rate of 9.5%, driven by robust demand for Shariah-compliant financing.
Customer deposits also recorded a healthy increase, reaching AED59.4 billion, up from AED55.7 billion at the end of 2025, resulting in a 6.6% rise.
The financing-to-deposit ratio stood at 84%, an improvement from 82% at the previous year’s end, highlighting excellent liquidity management while maintaining comfortable capital levels.
The Bank maintained liquid assets worth AED19.8 billion, equal to 20.9% of total assets. By the close of 2025, liquid assets represented 22.3% of total assets.
Shareholders' equity rose by AED2.6 billion following a successful increase through the issuance of 1.1 billion new shares at a nominal value of AED1 each and a share premium of AED1.4.
This capital infusion aligns with the Bank's long-term strategy focused on strengthening its capital base, enhancing financing capabilities, and exploring new growth opportunities.
Furthermore, Sharjah Islamic Bank reported improvements in key profitability metrics.
The Return on Equity (ROE) climbed to 14.81%, up from 14.78% in the previous year.
Return on Assets (ROA) also increased to 1.74%, a rise from 1.55%, demonstrating enhanced capital efficiency and better resource utilization.
