Doha: Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, spoke on Friday with Peru’s Foreign Minister, Hugo de Zela, to address ongoing regional developments.
Their conversation concentrated on the recent ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, alongside other areas of mutual interest.
Al Muraikhi reiterated Qatar's steadfast endorsement of the ceasefire, emphasizing it as a pivotal measure for reducing regional tensions. He called for actions that would build upon this agreement to avert any further destabilization.
He also highlighted the need to protect maritime routes, ensure the freedom of navigation, and uphold international trade following global legal standards. These efforts, he noted, are vital for both regional stability and the integrity of global supply chains.
In return, Minister Hugo de Zela affirmed Peru's solidarity with Qatar, championing initiatives that foster peace, enhance stability, and promote international cooperation.
This conversation signifies a growing global agreement on maintaining the ceasefire and preventing further escalation, with international stakeholders keeping a close watch on the situation.
