The State of Qatar remains dedicated to delivering necessary humanitarian aid globally, facing significant regional challenges like transport disruptions and supply chain issues.
Organizations such as Qatar Charity and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) have effectively implemented their Ramadan relief initiatives, ensuring resources reached those in need without significant interruptions thanks to meticulous planning and coordination.
Eng. Ibrahim bin Hashim Al Sada, Secretary-General of QRCS, noted that the organization leveraged its expertise and partnerships to navigate the complex landscape effectively. Early preparations before Ramadan were key in facilitating the timely execution of relief projects across various nations.
Despite the difficulties, QRCS has been active with essential programs, including Ramadan iftar meals in Lebanon and Eid clothing distributions for Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Jordan. Nonetheless, some medical aid shipments to Sudan encountered delays due to ongoing challenges.
Al Sada pointed out the difficulties in delivering aid to Gaza, where border restrictions have hindered supply flows, leaving many critical needs unmet.
Currently, QRCS teams are operational in 12 nations, adapting their strategies based on ground conditions. Projects are ongoing in Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Niger, maintaining a generally stable operational landscape despite the obstacles encountered.
In Lebanon, the deteriorating humanitarian situation has necessitated frequent adjustments to aid programs to address urgent needs effectively.
Al Sada underscored the coordinated efforts among various organizations, highlighting a unified approach between Qatar Charity and national bodies aimed at delivering sustainable aid and hope to communities worldwide.
Meanwhile, Qatar Charity CEO Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari reported that the organization’s Ramadan campaign, titled “Good Starts With You,” successfully reached approximately 3.85 million individuals across 43 countries.
This campaign included distribution of iftar meals, zakat al-fitr, Eid clothing, and development projects involving housing, water provision, mosque building, and economic assistance. It particularly focused on supporting displaced populations, including Rohingya and Yemenis.
During Ramadan, medical initiatives, including heart surgeries for children and eye treatment programs, were also implemented.
Al Kuwari emphasized that proactive planning, strong field operations, and local partnerships contributed to the success of these endeavors, while also supporting local economies by utilizing nearby suppliers.
In Qatar, aid distribution was adapted to deliver iftar meals to workers directly rather than organizing large gatherings. A new electronic voucher system was introduced to aid low-income families with an emphasis on privacy.
Qatar Charity also initiated a streamlined operational system enabling immediate project launches upon funding availability, characterized by pre-planned project locations and early beneficiary selection.
However, Al Kuwari cautioned that ongoing regional unrest may escalate costs due to disruptions, prompting the organization to enhance emergency preparedness and logistical frameworks for future endeavors.
He also addressed the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, where rising tensions have led to significant displacement since March 2026, prompting Qatar Charity to implement a $2.35 million emergency plan for the period covering March to May 2026.
This comprehensive plan includes food relief, shelter assistance, water and sanitation solutions, medical supplies, and solar energy provisions for vital facilities.
Al Kuwari concluded by affirming that Qatar Charity is closely monitoring global developments, prepared to expand its initiatives to deliver effective and dignified support to those in critical need.
