In a remarkable showing at the sixth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games held in Saudi Arabia, Qatar clinched a total of 11 medals, underscoring its prowess in various sports. The event, which concluded with a vibrant ceremony at the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University Stadium on Friday night, drew thousands of athletes from around the globe. Qatar's impressive haul reflects the nation's commitment to advancing its athletic capabilities in regional competitions.

Qatar's medal journey kicked off in the aquatic arena, where swimmer Ali Tamer earned a silver medal in the men's 100-meter freestyle, setting a positive tone for the Qatari team. Shortly thereafter, weightlifter Wissal Khalef captured the spotlight with three gold medals in the women's over-86 kg category, highlighting her as one of the standout performers for Qatar at the Games.

The Qatari delegation continued to excel in other disciplines. In equestrian events, Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al-Thani secured silver in show jumping, bringing Qatar's medal tally to five. The fencing team added to the excitement as Khalid Al Yafei won bronze in the men's foil category, while wrestler Shaheen Mohammed clinched a bronze in the 77kg weight class. Additionally, the Qatari 3x3 basketball team contributed a bronze after an intense tournament.

On the final day of competition, Qatar achieved three more medals. The men's fencing team secured silver in the team foil event, demonstrating consistent performances throughout their matches. The national handball team showed exceptional teamwork to win bronze, while Abubaker Haydar completed the Qatari medal tally with a bronze in the 800m race.

Overall, Qatar's medal count comprised 3 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals, a testament to the nation’s ongoing investment in sports and athlete training. The Games also illustrated the increasing competitiveness among participating nations.

At the forefront of the medal table, Turkiye dominated the event with a total of 155 medals—72 gold, 44 silver, and 39 bronze. Uzbekistan followed with 96 medals, while Iran secured third place with 81 medals. The host nation, Saudi Arabia, ended with 57 medals, with Egypt in fifth place at 45 medals. The vigorous competition reaffirmed the growing importance of the Islamic Solidarity Games.

This year's Games featured over 3,000 athletes from 57 countries across 23 sports, marking one of the largest editions yet. The array of sports included athletics, swimming, judo, fencing, wrestling, weightlifting, volleyball, and more. Additionally, para-sports events such as para-athletics and para-powerlifting enhanced the inclusivity of the Games.

Representing Qatar were 82 athletes competing across 16 sports, including athletics, duathlon, 3x3 basketball, and many others. This diverse involvement underscores Qatar's dedication to cultivating talent in various sporting disciplines.

With an impressive total of 11 medals and outstanding performances, Qatar's athletes have not only showcased their determination but have also laid the groundwork for inspiring future generations of athletes, ensuring the nation's continued success in both regional and global competitions.
