Qatar's Sewage Infrastructure Sees 207% Growth by 2025

Qatar's Sewage Infrastructure Sees 207% Growth by 2025

Post by : Badri Ariffin

The Public Works Authority of Qatar, known as Ashghal, has unveiled plans for a significant expansion of the nation's sewage infrastructure slated for completion between 2013 and 2025. This ambitious project emphasizes enhanced network capacity and operational efficiency.

Ashghal reports that the extent of the sewage network's assets has grown by an impressive 207%, from 2,836 kilometers in 2013 to a projected 9,707 kilometers by 2025. This expansion is part of the ongoing initiatives to accommodate rapid urban development while elevating reliable and sustainable public utility services.

The revised sewage infrastructure now boasts 3,326 kilometers dedicated solely to sewage connections, along with 2,084 kilometers aimed at treated sewage effluent (TSE) distribution, 494 kilometers of rising main pipelines, and an additional 911 kilometers for house connections.

Moreover, the network includes 79,348 drainage manholes and 165,924 surface water gullies, bolstering the overall capacity for both drainage and wastewater management throughout the nation.

Further, Ashghal highlighted substantial advancements in affiliated facilities, which now feature eight state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plants, 120 foul sewer pumping stations, 13 dedicated TSE pumping stations, and 71 stations for ground and surface water pumping.

This extensive development underscores Qatar's commitment to investing in modern infrastructure that fosters sustainable growth and improves public service delivery.
