Rhea Chakraborty has undergone a unique experience in the past five years that few in the entertainment industry can relate to. After the tragic death of her former partner, Sushant Singh Rajput, in 2020, Rhea confronted legal challenges and societal backlash. While she was recently exonerated by the CBI—despite objections from Sushant’s family—the emotional toll on her mental health lingered, leading to PTSD.
She noted how her public challenges have encouraged many to confide in her about their own mental health struggles. “I think a lot of individuals felt I could relate to their issues. Even long-time friends have approached me to share their vulnerabilities following my situation,” Rhea stated.
On her path to healing, she emphasized the importance of gratitude, explaining, “Every morning and night, I would remind myself of what I’m thankful for. Some days, it felt challenging to find anything, yet I would still appreciate my ability to walk, see, and move.”
Her spirituality played a pivotal role in her recovery. “Since 2020, I’ve been reciting the Hanuman Chalisa at least seven times daily. It serves as a meditative practice for me,” she explained. Rhea also credits her close friendships and meaningful dialogues as motivators behind her new podcast. “Sharing experiences can be transformative. People seek understanding. Connecting with an empathetic community promotes healing,” she added.
Touching on mental health stigma, Rhea pointed out that many dismiss these issues as mere “drama” or underestimate their complexity by thinking one can simply “control the mind.” She stressed that authentic mental health struggles arise from chemical imbalances that individuals cannot navigate independently.
