A viral comment made during a comedy show has dramatically changed the life of a 22-year-old man from Gurugram, triggering widespread criticism online and ultimately leading to the loss of his job. Himanshu Jangra, whose remarks during comedian Pranit More's show sparked outrage across social media platforms, has now been terminated by the company where he was employed.
The controversy began after a video clip from the comedy event went viral. In the clip, Jangra narrated an incident involving a woman and suggested that spending Rs 370 on a meal entitled him to expect something in return. The statement was widely criticized as misogynistic and disrespectful towards women, leading to intense backlash from social media users.
As criticism mounted, the video spread rapidly across Instagram, X, and other platforms. Thousands of users condemned the remarks, arguing that they reflected problematic attitudes toward relationships and consent. The incident quickly evolved from a comedy show moment into a national social media debate about gender sensitivity and accountability.
Following the controversy, Jangra issued an apology and deactivated his Instagram account. However, the backlash continued to grow. Soon afterward, Starvik Design, the Gurugram-based company where he worked, announced that it had decided to terminate his employment after reviewing the matter internally.
Company founder Vivek Vishwakarma stated that the views expressed in the viral clip did not represent the values of the organisation. He revealed that an internal review found no complaints regarding Jangra's conduct at work and that colleagues described him as professional and respectful. Despite this, the company concluded that the public controversy had begun affecting the workplace environment and decided to part ways with him.
Interestingly, while announcing the termination, Vishwakarma also urged society to allow room for reflection and personal growth. He said individuals can make serious mistakes and should face consequences, but they should also be given opportunities to learn and change. His remarks sparked another round of debate online, with many users disagreeing and arguing that accountability should remain the priority.
The incident has become one of the most discussed social media controversies of the week. It highlights how comments made in public spaces can have far-reaching consequences in the digital age. The debate surrounding the case continues to raise questions about workplace reputation, social responsibility, freedom of expression, and the role of public accountability in shaping professional careers.
