Mumbai: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt shared a chilling experience from his prison days on The Great Indian Kapil Show, leaving fans stunned by the story. Appearing on the show with his close friend Suniel Shetty, the 66-year-old actor revisited the time he spent behind bars for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
During his conversation, Sanjay described a moment that still haunts him years later. He spoke about a routine day in Yerwada Jail, where even ordinary activities could turn dangerous.
Sanjay explained that one day jail authorities asked him to shave his overgrown beard. To carry out the task, the authorities assigned another inmate, who was convicted of double murder, to shave him. The convict, named Mishra, held a razor close to Sanjay’s neck while performing the task.
Curious, Sanjay asked him how long he had been in prison. Mishra replied, “Fifteen years.” Sanjay then asked, “What for?” The answer was simple yet terrifying: “Double murder.”
“I immediately held his hand and stopped him,” Sanjay recalled, visibly shaken. “So, a double murder convict had a razor in his hand, and this was just an ordinary day in jail.”
Despite this frightening experience, Sanjay said he holds no regrets about his life. He reflected on missing his parents, legendary actor Nargis and actor-politician Sunil Dutt, who passed away in 1981 and 2005, respectively. He expressed deep longing for their presence, noting that losing them too early has been the hardest part of his life.
Sanjay emphasized that his actions in life, despite mistakes, were guided by sincerity and personal growth. Even during jail, he tried to positively contribute, hosting a radio show for fellow inmates and encouraging good behaviour among prisoners.
Sanjay was convicted under the Arms Act for possession of illegal weapons linked to the 1993 bombings. He served five years in Yerwada Jail, and was released early due to good conduct. His prison life was a mix of challenges and learning experiences. He has openly shared that prison taught him resilience, patience, and the value of life.
Sanjay Dutt continues to stay active in Bollywood. Currently, he is seen in Baaghi 4, starring alongside Tiger Shroff, Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, and Sonam Bajwa. Fans are eagerly awaiting his upcoming films.
He will be seen in The Raja Saab with Prabhas, set to release on October 2, and Dhurandar, featuring Ranveer Singh, Akshay Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan, which is scheduled for December 5.
