Washington — A senior White House official confirmed on Monday that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will travel to the White House on November 18 for an official working session with US President Donald Trump.
The encounter is being framed as a pivotal moment in bilateral ties, with leaders anticipated to cover strategic and regional matters, notably discussions over a possible US-Saudi security pact and Riyadh's potential accession to the Abraham Accords.
President Trump has advocated for Saudi Arabia to normalise relations with Israel alongside nations such as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco, which signed accords in 2020. Saudi officials, however, have reiterated that meaningful advances on Palestinian statehood are a precondition for any formal steps.
Mr. Trump recently voiced optimism, saying he expects “the Saudis will ultimately join the accords,” underlining US hopes for further regional diplomacy.
Media reports indicate talks are progressing on a potential defence agreement that could be finalised during the visit, potentially offering Riyadh expanded US security assurances and greater access to advanced American military technology.
The US and Saudi Arabia have sustained a strategic partnership for decades, blending security cooperation and arms sales with energy ties. During Mr. Trump's trip to Riyadh earlier this year, the two governments sealed an estimated $142 billion arms agreement, cementing that alliance.
Observers say the White House meeting could shape the trajectory of US-Saudi cooperation as regional geopolitics continue to shift.
Diplomats and analysts will be watching closely for any statements or agreements that signal a new phase in security and diplomatic engagement across the Middle East.
