Saudi Arabia has successfully intercepted aerial threats targeting the capital region, as its defence systems detected the launch of two ballistic missiles and multiple drones aimed at Riyadh.
According to an official statement from the Ministry of Defence, one of the ballistic missiles was intercepted mid-air, while the second missile landed in an uninhabited area, causing no reported casualties or damage.
The ministry also confirmed that three drones were intercepted and destroyed in separate regions of the country. Two drones were neutralised in the Eastern Region, while another was brought down in the Northern Borders Region.
The announcement was made through the Saudi Press Agency, with defence spokesperson Turki Al-Malki providing details of the operation.
Saudi Arabia has frequently relied on its advanced air defence systems to counter missile and drone threats, particularly amid ongoing regional tensions in the Middle East. The swift interception highlights the country’s preparedness to respond to aerial attacks and safeguard key urban areas.
Authorities have not reported any injuries, and the situation remains under control following the successful defensive response.
