The Consulate General of India in Dubai has conveyed its heartfelt condolences regarding the recent death of an Indian crew member due to a maritime incident.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the consulate mentioned that it is in communication with the ship's owner to collect further information concerning the incident. They pledged to extend all necessary assistance promptly.
The consulate expressed, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic event at sea that led to the death of an Indian crew member. Our team is liaising with the ship owner to ascertain additional details, and we will prioritize assistance in this matter. Our sincere condolences go out to the family.”
Details regarding the deceased's identity and specifics of the incident are pending.
On another note, on May 6, Opesh Kumar Sharma, the Director of Shipping at the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, confirmed that all Indian seafarers in the region are safe, with no reported incidents occurring from May 4 to May 6.
He added that the government has successfully facilitated the repatriation of over 2,999 Indian seafarers from various Gulf locations, including 23 seafarers in just the last two days.
Sharma further emphasized that the Ministry is collaborating with the Ministry of External Affairs and maritime stakeholders to ensure the safety and welfare of Indian seafarers, along with maintaining seamless maritime operations.
