Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, convened with the creative team behind the Season of Wulfa initiative in Dubai.
This initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, underlines the region's rich cultural heritage and is steered by Sheikha Latifa.
Season of Wulfa honors significant cultural festivities such as Haq Al Leila, Ramadan, and Eid, showcasing Emirati customs and fostering community bonds. The initiative promotes cultural exchange, encouraging connections among UAE nationals, residents, and visitors.
The creative team is made up of distinguished Emirati professionals from various sectors including design, architecture, literature, and media. Their collaborative efforts are focused on dialogue, research, and community engagement, ensuring the cultural narrative resonates authentically with Emirati traditions.
Sheikha Latifa emphasized the importance of culture in reinforcing social unity and fostering a spirit of tolerance and diversity. She noted that this vision aligns with the approach of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who emphasizes public happiness and well-being as essential to national development.
Fostering Togetherness
The Season of Wulfa is predicated on three foundational themes: reflection, connection, and blessing. Sheikha Latifa remarked that it embodies authentic Emirati, Arab, and Islamic values, fostering community ties and encouraging moments of shared spiritual reflection.
The initiative not only spreads joy and generosity but also raises awareness about the vital need to preserve traditional cultural practices. She acknowledged Dubai's nurturing environment for creativity, which empowers talents to articulate cultural narratives meaningfully. Partnerships are crucial for achieving these aims and enhancing Dubai's cultural prestige.
The meeting saw the participation of representatives from multiple government sectors, including The Executive Council of Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority, and several others, along with prominent Emirati artists and cultural advocates. Notably, Shaima Rashed Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Arts, Design and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, led this dynamic group.
Insights Gathered
During the discussions, the importance of the Season of Wulfa as a means to articulate authentic Emirati values and reflect local heritage was underscored. Participants explored significant milestones and findings on cultural evolution surrounding traditional celebrations.
The creative team noted that deep community dialogue was instrumental in shaping the initiative's vision, guiding principles, design frameworks, and overall strategy. The Season of Wulfa will showcase over 50 activities across more than 30 venues in Dubai, uniting government, private, and community stakeholders.
