Security Alert: 350 kg of Explosives and Rifle Seized Near Delhi with Two Doctors Arrested

Security Alert: 350 kg of Explosives and Rifle Seized Near Delhi with Two Doctors Arrested

Post by : Rameen Ariff

A significant security incident has unfolded near Delhi, where authorities seized 350 kilograms of explosives, an assault rifle, and other weapons in Faridabad, Haryana. This discovery occurred after the arrest of two Jammu and Kashmir doctors, highlighting a troubling connection between medical professionals and suspected terrorist activities.

Officials reported that the operation was a collaborative effort between Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana police, triggered by critical leads gathered during the interrogation of Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather. Previously apprehended in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Rather hails from Anantnag and was detained for allegedly supporting the banned terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed by putting up posters in Srinagar.

Further investigations revealed Rather's association with another doctor, Dr. Mujammil Shakeel from Pulwama, who is employed at Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad. Acting on Rather’s disclosures, authorities recovered 350 kg of ammonium nitrate explosives, alongside 20 timers, a pistol, three magazines, a walkie-talkie set, and an AK-47 rifle.

Previously, the Jammu and Kashmir police confiscated an AK-47 and ammunition from Rather’s locker at Government Medical College in Anantnag. Both individuals are now being thoroughly investigated for potential connections to terrorist organizations.

Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta verified the haul, stating that the explosives had been stashed in a residential locality. He remarked, “The scale of this recovery near Delhi is extremely alarming. A joint probe is currently being conducted with intelligence agencies.”

Sources indicate that these explosives were likely intended for a more extensive terror operation, although the specifics remain uncertain. Officials are investigating how such a large cache of explosives could be transported unnoticed just a few miles from Delhi.

This incident raises significant alarm regarding the involvement of highly educated individuals in extremist networks. Both doctors are under investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act.

In light of this seizure, security agencies have ramped up surveillance throughout the National Capital Region, while forensic teams are tasked with analyzing the explosives for composition verification.

Authorities are also conducting further raids to uncover additional individuals connected to this alarming situation.
