His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, officially launched the Abu Al Kizan Marine Village project in Khorfakkan Thursday morning.
This initiative aligns with Sharjah’s ambition to enhance tourism, urban growth, and overall quality of life in the emirate. Spanning 7 million square feet, it aims to establish a premier tourism and investment hub within Khorfakkan.
Inspired by the iconic coastal towns of Italy, the Abu Al Kizan Marine Village features a harmonious mix of traditional Ligurian architecture and Islamic design elements, creating a distinctive waterfront experience. Visitors will enjoy colorful terraced structures surrounding a natural harbor, offering stunning sea vistas amid a picturesque natural setting.
During the inauguration, Sheikh Sultan reviewed the project's comprehensive masterplan and associated amenities. The development is set to include green parks, a beach area, a main promenade boulevard, interconnecting roads, walking pathways, and a range of public services designed to enhance the residents' and tourists' experience.
The name "Abu Al Kizan" pays tribute to the marine heritage of the area; "Kizan" refers to the large shellfish known as "Koz," emphasizing the project's close ties to the coastal ecosystem.
Strategically located in Khorfakkan, the project will have easy access to major landmarks such as Khorfakkan Corniche, the Old Souq, Khorfakkan Port, and Al Suhub Rest Area, all of which are expected to boost its tourism and investment allure.
According to project officials, the development will encompass 201 land plots for 285 buildings, featuring multi-storey residential units, villas, mixed-use spaces, commercial offices, a hotel, and a mosque. The aim is to establish a modern, integrated urban community that caters to diverse living and business demands.
The design accommodates the area's natural topography, ensuring a thoughtful distribution of building heights. Additionally, sustainable practices will be implemented to safeguard marine environments and maintain local biodiversity.
This project is a testament to Sharjah’s long-term outlook on creating sustainable tourism and urban spaces that beautifully blend natural landscapes, environmental stewardship, and advanced infrastructure.
The foundation stone ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs; Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; and Dr. Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi, Chairman of Mubadara.
