Post by : Badri Ariffin

Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan engaged with delegations from Abu Dhabi Airports, AD Ports Group, and Etihad Rail to discuss major transport and infrastructure initiatives in the Al Ain Region.

In his meeting with Abu Dhabi Airports, spearheaded by CEO Ahmed Juma Al Shamisi, Sheikh Hazza examined plans for the free zone at Al Ain International Airport. The discussion aimed at enhancing logistics solutions and connectivity between air and rail transport, reinforcing the airport's significance as a key logistics hub.

Additionally, strategic expansion efforts to boost passenger flow and upgrade airport amenities were covered, reflecting the increasing economic and tourism activities in Al Ain Region.

Sheikh Hazza also met with a delegation from AD Ports Group, led by Managing Director and Group CEO Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi. Updates regarding ongoing projects by AD Ports Group and Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi in Al Ain were presented.

These initiatives aim to position Al Ain as a cohesive industrial and economic center, with discussions focused on upcoming developments to strengthen the food, agritech, packaging, and logistics sectors, thereby attracting investments and enhancing the area's competitiveness.

In another meeting, Sheikh Hazza welcomed a delegation from Etihad Rail, headed by CEO Shadi Malak. He received updates on the progress of the UAE-Oman railway link project, particularly in Al Ain, a strategic location along the railway.

Officials reported that the railway project, developed by Hafeet Rail—a collaboration between Etihad Rail, Oman Rail, and Mubadala Investment Company—is currently 40 percent complete.

The briefing included future plans for passenger and freight rail services in Al Ain and their significance in fostering economic growth and refining the UAE’s transport and logistics framework.

Sheikh Hazza emphasized the necessity for adopting a forward-thinking strategy to enhance infrastructure and transport projects, thereby elevating Al Ain's competitiveness and promoting sustainable economic progress. He noted that these initiatives would reinforce the UAE's status as a global center for trade, logistics, and cutting-edge transport solutions.

He commended the dedication of national teams and officials involved in strategic projects that propel development objectives and enhance the quality of life in Al Ain Region.

The meetings were attended by Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and several officials from Abu Dhabi Airports, AD Ports Group, and Etihad Rail.
